Route 2: Milling Villages
Today the villages of Temple Ewell and River are quiet country places, who's residents mainly work in nearby towns. From the 1600s until Vicotian times they were centres for industries powered by water from the Dour such as corn milling and papermaking. The Milling Villages walk will look at how the villages grew and why the mills were located as they were.
A system of QR smartcode waymarkers, which can be read with mobile phones, is planned for this route. Using your phone you will be able to follow the route and find out more about the places you visit and the people who lived and worked there. Permissions to put up the signs is currently being requested from land owners and local authorities. We are currently checking the walk routes so watch this page for downloadable walk routes and links to walk information coming soon.
Please visit this page again soon for full details of the walk.
